biography

Alastair Gibson was born near Johannesburg in 1962 and grew up there. He now lives at Oxford  in the UK. After studying engineering, he worked in Formula 1 for over twenty years, four of them as Lead Mechanic for the Benetton F1 Team and ten as Race Team Chief Mechanic for the BAR and Honda Grand Prix teams. A few years ago he turned his great passion into a profession and chose a life as a freelance artist. Its material is carbon and its know-how is unquestionable. His objects are the perfect combination of nature, technology, engineering, innovation, vision... and art. He is still the only carbon artist in the world. For the small details of his sculptures, he uses original parts from Formula 1 vehicles. Alastair Gibson gives the object art of the 21st century a new and extremely fascinating face!
